PHOTO EXHIBITION
BUCHAREST,
A TOURIST DESTINATION
|
|
The exhibition is a visual manifesto addressing tourists as a challenge... to discover Bucharest with their camera. There is apparently no precise order of presentation, nor is there a purpose to promote tourism.
The photographs, sized 100 x 70 cm, are taken in different seasons and places in the Capital and they reveal the city in its normality, naturalness and in the dynamics of a European metropolis. Even if the city is sometimes difficult to discover, once the challenge has been launched, the rest is just... Bucharest.

IOAN NEMŢOI :
Who’s Afraid of Glass?
INSTALLATION |
|
Ioan Nemţoi Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest. With a remarkable evolution in the decorative and sculptural arts of glass, Ioan Nemţoi is now at the peak of his career. Critics have often associated him with well-known artists such as Dale Chihuly, Marvin Lipovsky, Erwin Eisch or Howard Ben Tre. |
|
Ioan Nemţoi's glass installation “Who's afraid of Glass?” proposes a dialogue in the universal language of colour and shape, referring to its own history and artistic discourse. The vivid, pure, red and organic shape makes a powerful contrast with the urban environment.
Until recently, glass has been a medium mainly used for the expression of decorative arts. It is a genre that is now begining to run its own course, at the same time searching for its own identity and in need of some clarification, searching for the New, be it conceptual or technical.
Nemţoi challenges glass and provokes us by using it as a manifesto, playing with it and pushing it to the frontier between the conceptual and the decorative.
“Who's afraid of Glass?” has the appearance of a squirming fantasy, a giant insect with thousands of legs - and asserts itself as an artist's personal interpretation of the primordial elements, water and fire - finally being one of Ioan Nemţoi's well known extravaganzas.

Starting with the famous Bull Head ( Moldavia 1858), the Romanian postage stamp has been a much appraised object of collection, both at home and abroad. All countries give special consideration to their own postage stamps, precious paper brilliants which promote, besides aesthetic values, the values of the national, historical and cultural heritage.
|
Philately contributes to aesthetic education by means of the beauty of the subjects illustrated by the stamps, as well as through the effort of collectors for the organization and presentation of collections in a form as beautiful and attractive as possible. The "tiny pieces of colored paper", with drawings and images of rare beauty, encourage the collector to appreciate arts and the cultural heritage, enhance emotional experiences and contribute to the formation of the taste for all things within the scope of creation and of the artist.
“ Bucharest in post stamps ”
Philatelic exhibition, launching of a philatelic emission and of special philatelic products, dedicated to the city of Bucharest
|
This exhibition and the launching of a philatelic emission are part of an effort to promote the image of Romania, especially that of the city of Bucharest. The event aims to inform the public about the way in which philatelic products are created, about novelties, performances and innovations in the philatelic field.
The public will have the opportunity to get familiar with the representative beauties of the city of Bucharest by means of stamps. Alongside the anthem, the flag and the currency, the stamps are national symbols that offer a miniature image of the historic and artistic values and traditions.

“MADE IN RO - EU”
Young Art of Romania
The painting and graphic arts exhibition “MADE IN RO - EU” - Young Art of Romania, comprises around 120 pieces and is divided into two sections - one dedicated to the pupils of “N. Tonitza” Art High School and the other dedicated to the students of the National Art University of Bucharest.
The exhibition is revealing for the high artistic and professional level of the young exhibitors. It is designed with care, based on a selection by two exceptional teachers and artists, Stela Lie and Iuri Isar. |
|
Due to this rigorous selection, the public is offered, in a high-performance visual show, pieces made in all known painting and graphics techniques, from simple coal drawing to mixed or experimental techniques. Among these young (still to be educated) artists there are authentic talents that are, fortunately, well guided. The pupils of “Tonitza” High School have been encouraged to focus their attention on the urban landscape of today’s Bucharest. With great sensitivity they managed to create pieces that are evocative and are impregnated by a certain nostalgia. The chromatic sense of some of the selected pupils is remarkable. |
|
The students' works, on the other hand, are distinguished by a great diversity of approaches and techniques. One of the trends of the day, autobiographical introspection, as well as the interest for an expression which is as realistic as possible can be easily noticed in most compositions. But there are also other types of vision, ranging from the oniric to the temptation of non-figurative expression. Engraving, with its delicate techniques, is also well represented.
This exhibition conveys the image of a very good Romanian art school, worth being respected and continued in the future.

During the event “Bucharest Days in Vienna” the artist proposes the creation of an “ambulant” installation which presents to the audience a “Bucharest character”, a depository of material and spiritual symbols, who permanently re-shapes his cultural identity and is open to interaction with other cultures. By the shape and the way of “exposure” the artist intends to achieve direct communication with the street and to generate a large amount of interest from the Viennese public.

The installation the artist proposes is an artistic object whose purpose is a playful and interactive presentation of Bucharest: it offers a tour that combines history with elements of material and spiritual civilization proper to a modern, developing, capital city. Through this installation the artist intends to present a synthesis of Romanian spirituality - seen from the point of view of Bucharest, where history and modernity mingle in a dynamic process. The project of the open-air installation aims to be an open book of Bucharest, where the main architectural and historic monuments can be seen.
